What is different in the United States
In the United States the fee arithmetic is unusual in one way: eBay, Amazon, Etsy and Mercari settle the money themselves, so there is rarely a separate payment fee to subtract — it is already inside the selling fee. What does bite is shipping. Carriers bill on dimensional weight in cubic inches per pound, so a light, bulky box is charged as though it were heavy, and a pallet is priced on density instead.
